Stephen and Jennifer Bohach
Founders, HELLP Syndrome Society

Stephen Bohach is the President and Cofounder of the HELLP Syndrome Society, Inc. Steve is the Vice President and Relationship Manager for JP Morgan Chase business banking. Steve has over twenty years in banking industry experience and has held many leadership positions in service organizations. Steve and Jennifer founded the HELLP Syndrome Society, a USA based nonprofit, in 1995 after Jennifer's near-death experience with HELLP Syndrome, a variant of preeclampsia and the loss of their daughter Taylor Hope.

Jennifer Bohach is the Vice President and Cofounder of the HELLP Syndrome Society, Inc. Jennifer is an elementary music specialist with twenty-two years of teaching experience and has held many leadership positions in nonprofit organizations.

Thomas R Easterling, MD
Professor, Maternal-Fetal Medicine
University of Washington

Dr. Easterling, a founder of the Preeclampsia Foundation, received his MD from University of North Carolina Medical School. He is a national expert in the field of hypertension in pregnancy. A professor at the University of Washington Medical School joining the staff in 1985, Dr. Easterling has received numerous awards including: the 2006 Preeclampsia Foundation Founder's Award, the Young Investigator's Award of the International Society for the Study of Hypertension in Pregnancy, the Society Award for the Society of Perinatal Obstetricians for research on the hemadynamics of preeclampsia, and was honored by the journal Obstetrics & Gynecology for conducting one of the four most significant studies of 1999 regarding early antihypertensive treatment to prevent preeclampsia. He and his team at the University of Washington are members of the NIH-sponsored Obstetrical Pharmacological Research Unit network investigating the use of medications in pregnancy. Dr. Easterling continues an active clinical and research practice at the University of Washington and is a co-founder of the North American Society for the Study of Hypertension in Pregnancy and Interprea.

S Ananth Karumanchi, MD
Assistant Professor of Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynecology
Harvard Medical School

Dr. Karumanchi is a nephrologist in the Center for Vascular Biology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) and assistant professor of medicine, obstetrics and gynecology at Harvard Medical School. He and his team has been the subject of much acclaim after his discovery that elevated levels of the sFlt1 placental protein leads to the onset of preeclampsia. He was recently the subject of an impressive article in the New Yorker magazine. A native of South India, Dr. Karumanchi is currently leading the first prospective study that may lead to an early test to identify preeclampsia earlier in pregnancy.

Ana Langer, MD
President and CEO of EngenderHealth

Dr. Ana Langer is the President and CEO of EngenderHealth. She is a board certified physician and a reproductive health specialist and public health researcher. Before joining EngenderHealth she served as the Population Council’s Regional Director for Latin America and the Caribbean, the Acting Director of the Council’s Inter-Regional Reproductive Health Program, and in Mexico, as a special advisor to the Minister of Health. She sits on the advisory board of the World Health Organization’s Advisory Committee on Health Research and Expert Advisory Panel on Health Science and Technology Policy, and the International Planned Parenthood Federation's International Medical Advisory Panel. Dr. Langer also serves on editorial boards including the Bulletin of the World Health Organization, the WHO Reproductive Health Library, and the Journal of Reproductive Health.

Marshall Lindheimer

Dr Lindheimer, a board certified internist and nephrologist, is a Professor emeritus in the departments of medicine and obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Chicago, where he currently chairs the advisory board of its NIH-funded General Clinical Research Center. His clinical interests focus on the management of pregnant women with kidney disease and hypertension, while his research career has stressed renal physiology, volume homeostasis, and blood pressure control in normal and abnormal pregnancy. He is also a consultant to the World Health Organization participating in their Global Program to Conquer Preeclampsia, and advising them in the areas of clinical trials and the implementation of best care policies in developing nations. Dr Lindheimer is one of the founders of the International Society for the Study of Hypertension in Pregnancy, and has served both as its secretary-treasurer and president. His 350 plus publications include seminal basic science observations, clinical studies, numerous text chapters and author- or editorship of seven texts, including the most recent editions of Chesley's Hypertensive Disorders in Pregnancy, and Barron & Lindheimer's Medical Disorders During Pregnancy. Dr Lindheimer is a recipient of the Chesley Award for Research in Hypertension in Pregnancy, the 2006 Preeclampsia Foundation Hope Award for Lifetime Achievement in Advocacy; and Lifetime of Service Award from the Kidney Foundation.

Beverly Winikoff, MD, MPH
President, Gynuity

Before beginning work on Gynuity, Dr. Winikoff was employed for 25 years at the Population Council where she was Director for Reproductive Health and a Senior Medical Associate. She developed and managed the Council's Ebert Program on Critical Issues in Reproductive Health, including work on Safe Motherhood, prevention of STDs/AIDS, prevention of unsafe abortion, provision of safe abortion care, and improving postpartum care for mothers and babies. Before joining the Council in 1978, she was Assistant Director for Health Sciences, The Rockefeller Foundation. Her work has focused on issues of reproductive choice, contraception, abortion, and women's health. Dr. Winikoff graduated from Harvard University magna cum laude, earned her M.D. degree from New York University and her M.P.H. degree from the Harvard School of Public Health.
